Claudia was born February 20, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to J. Frank and Lee Ora Schmidt Clark. Her father passed away when she was only 4, she was later adopted when her mother married Lathan C. Jackson. The family moved from Texas to Bristol, Tennessee where she graduated from Bristol High School. After graduation she attended Emory and Henry College in Virginia. She has been happily married to Tom Heaton for the last twenty-four years. Austin is home but they enjoyed frequent trips to their home on the Texas coast. Claudia worked as an Interior Decorator for years, but also assisted and supported Tom in the family real estate business. Claudia touched many lives and was never at a loss for words, but had an infectious laugh and up beat personality and she made friends wherever she went. She had many friends some of 40 years. She will be sorely missed by all.
Claudia is survived by her husband, Tom; her brother Lex Jackson and wife Judith; her sister, Nancy Martin, and husband Randy; daughters Carrie Heaton Stancliff, Cindy Heaton Connolly and husband John Mark Connolly, and Lesley Ann Heaton, mother in-law, Dean Heaton. She is loved by her five grandchildren, Jacob, Samuel, and Andrew Connolly; Jessica and Matthew Stancliff. Niece and nephews: Lex Carlton Jackson, Jr., Catherine Jackson Russell, and Robert Cole Martin. She is also survived by her extended family, Perry and Judy Hanson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 5-7pm with a service on Sunday, February 4th at 1pm; both at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Austin Memorial Park following the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Settlement Home 512-836-2150 www.settlementhome.org.
