The only child of Dr. and Mrs. H.A. Scott of Austin, Claire was born on April 16th, 1929, and named after her mother, Minai Claire. She grew up in Austin, attended the University of Texas, and married Dr. R. Vincent Murray, Jr. in 1950. Active members of Allandale/Great Hills Baptist Church for over 45 years, Claire enthusiastically taught children's Sunday School and worked diligently through the auxiliary of the Gideon's International.
Minai Claire Scott Murray is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. R. Vincent Murray and by her three sons: Scott Vincent Murray and wife, Betty; Dr. John Sinclair Murray and wife, Susan; and Robert Lewis Murray and wife, Gayle. "Grandmother" will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Darra, Michelle, Nicole, John, David (and wife, Vanessa), Ellen, Carol, and Amy who fondly remember participating in or hearing stories about her summertime Grandmother's Camps.
Even though her mental capacity in recent years was diminished by Alzheimer's disease, she never lost her gracious manners, cheerful laughter, and her joyful spirit.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21st at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 in the Great Hall at Great Hills Baptist Church, 10500 Jollyville Road, Austin. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Great Hills Baptist Church, Gideons International, or the charity of your choice.
