Christopher Lee Lewis, age 66, passed away Friday evening June 9th, 2017 with loving family present. He was born January 19th, 1951 and lived in Austin all his life. He went to St. Ignatius Parochial school and graduated from William B. Travis high school. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Marines. He worked with his father at his father's Conoco gas station and later as a truck driver for Ryder Trucks. His memory was sharp and he was often called upon to fill in the blanks when his family reminisced. He loved his truck and collecting treasures wherever he could, often doling out them out to loved ones. He was actually quite sentimental and was more of a big teddy bear than the rough and gruff macho man he wished to portray. His family saw right through him and loved him immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Martine Lewis, Sr. and Mary Louise Lewis; as well as his baby sister, Anne; brother, Vincent Wade; and brother-in-law, Joe Guerra-Paz.
Christopher is survived by eight siblings, Marty, Jane (Howard), Gene, Mike (Jo Kay), Steve, Tim (Elsa), Tricia (Julian), Joe; and sister-in-law, Lupe. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews Amanda, Nathan, Wilie, Carrie, Lauren, Adrian, Angela, Tim, Jr., Katie, Andrew, Cody, Chelsie, Josh, Sara, Tonya, Annie and Sophie; several great nieces and nephews; loving cousins; and special friend, Joy from Monte Siesta.
Special thanks to Mike and Jo Kay and Tricia and Julian for your extra attention and care.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Assumption Cemetery.
Rest in Peace Chris.
