Chris Cox, 75, of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on September 18, 2023 after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Chris was a real estate developer and the owner of Chris V. Cox Properties.
Chris was born on October 2, 1947 in Lubbock, Texas where he attended Lubbock High School. He was a four sport varsity athlete in football, basketball, baseball and track. Chris went on to the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration. He met the love of his life, Charlane, while he attended UT. They married in 1970 and moved to Chicago where he earned his Master of Business Administration at the University of Chicago. They then moved back to Austin where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Texas at Austin.
Chris and Charlane created and established their lives in Austin, Texas. Chris focused all of his love and attention on his career and his family where he created a legacy of love and generosity. He coached many sports teams for his girls and loved participating in all of their activities. To know Chris is to love him because he was the real deal. Chris was loyal to his people and he showed up for those he loves the most until he could no longer do so.
Chris loved Charlane and often told his girls, “she is the love of my life.” Chris and Charlane were married for 53 years and he told her in one of his final moments that he will love her forever.
Chris is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlane. He is also survived by his brother, Chad Cox; Christi, his daughter, and her two boys, Chris and Charlie; Camille and Daren, his daughter and son in law and their three children, Claire, Harper and Brady; Catherine, his daughter, and her wife Toni; his brother in law Lee and his sister in law Kathy. Lastly, it would not be a true tribute to our beloved Chris if we didn’t mention that he is survived by his best buddy, Luke, his dog.
We’d like to send a special thanks to Silverado Hospice, especially to his nurses Miranda, Heather and Tiphanie and his social worker, Regina. Their loving care was so important to him and to his family.
The family will honor Chris’s life in a private ceremony on Sunday, September 24. We invite all who love Chris to join us at Weed Corley-Fish funeral home on 5416 Parkcrest Drive at 3:30 pm on Sunday, September 24 for a visitation and celebration of a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family memorial contributions in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter, 5508 Highway 290 West, Suite 206, Austin Texas, 78735 or to the Helping Hand Home for Children, 3804 Avenue B, Austin, Texas, 78751.
