Charles E. (Charlie) Dabbs passed away peacefully August 28, 2006 at Seton Hospital. In 1989 due to the grace of God and a kind gift of a donor, Charlie received an extension of Life via a heart transplant at the age of 66. The family would like to thank the Seton Transplant Team and Davita Dialysis of San Marcos for all of their support through the years. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Charlie is survived by one sister, Esta Faye Thomas, age 101, of Altus, Oklahoma; by his loving wife, Ruth Dabbs; three children, Tim Dabbs, Sharon May, and Chuck Dabbs of the surrounding area; four grandchildren, Trina Walter, Wayne Dabbs, Randy Dabbs and Rowdy May; and nine great-grandchildren. Charlie served in the US Navy during WW II and stormed the beaches of Normandy. After service Charlie worked most of his life in the Texas Panhandle as a plant superintendent for Phillips Petroleum. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm Thursday, August 31 and Friday, September 1, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home.
