Charles Ray Brown Senior, was born in Taylor, Texas to the late Morris and Florene Brown (Black) as the second oldest of six children. Charles professed his love for Christ at an early age. He graduated from Johnston High School in Austin, Texas and Austin Community College. In 1974, he joined the United States Navy and was a member of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Forty in Port Hueneme, CA. In 1974, he also wed Sealie Houston and to this union, one son was born, Charles Ray Brown Jr.
After an honorable discharge, Charles returned to Austin and worked for the Robert Mueller Austin Airport for 12+ years as a custodial supervisor before retiring, due to unforeseen illness, in late 1997. Charles loved his morning coffee, listening to old school music (The Temptations, Franky Beverly and Maze, Gladys Knight and Pips, and The Commodores), rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, watching television, eating good food, and until his health failed him - taking long walks with his pups. Charles spent many hours reading and enthralled in the books of his favorite author – John Grisham. His private library contained almost every book written by Grisham. 😊 He also enjoyed books by Tom Clancy and WEB Griffith, but he truly enjoyed John Grisham.
Charles loved spending time with his family, especially when his nieces would call him “Uncle Charlesy”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Barbara Jones (Gilbert) and Marilyn Williams.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory one son Charles R. Brown Jr. (Dorothy), three grandchildren Jaden Brown, Chelsia Brown, Michelle Rissa and one great-grandson Rain (Sergio) Hill, two brothers Stanley L. Brown (Charlene) and Lester W. Brown Sr (Cynthia) and one sister Phyllis Roberson and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
