I am saddened to hear about Cecelia, she was a long time friend and fellow officer who I hadn't seen in 20 plus years since my retirement.  I first met her in mid seventies when I was COP State Capitol Police.  Bill and I attended Central Texas College in those years and we friends and co-workers.  They were a great couple and I had the pleasure of attending many functions with them.  She was a good officer and as nice a person you will ever meet. I send my prayers for the family and cherish the memories I shared with her and Bill.

Ceil was an integral part of the Austin Area Quilt Guild.  She worked diligently  during multiple quilt shows putting together the slide show of award winning quilts for opening night.  Ceil was so easy to work with because she was  always level headed, friendly and positive.  She was a wonderful quilter and will be missed by her quilting family.  

To know Ceil was to love Ceil.  She was very easy to get along with and she was a very straight shooter when it came to saying what was on her mind.  She enjoyed her quilting community and was dedicated to the Red White and Blue quilts for our injured service members. Once, at a bee meeting, when I was complaining about my current thimble hurting my finger, she pulled out a brand new, very pretty one from her bag and generously just gave it to me.  It fit my finger perfectly and I'll always remember Ceil every time I stitch with it.  Austin Area Quilt Guild has been better for her service and we will really miss her sense of humor.  She's going to have the angels stitching in no time!

Cecilia was a trailblazer! 
She knew who she was, where she was going, and how to get there. She set herself against tradition, facing conventions and prejudices. She paved the way for all the APD women who came after her.  We would have never come this far without her and are forever indebted to her!

I knew Ceil through the Austin Area Quilt Guild and served on the Executive Board with her where I got to know her better. Ceil really cared about people and doing what was best for them. She came up with unique solutions when something different was needed. She was a peacemaker when emotions were high. She was a model of how to work together for the benefit of all. She will be greatly missed.

I remember the first time I met Ceil was out at Bill’s lake house. I just had set my belongings in a room that I’d stay in the weekend at Bill & Ceils Lake get away. 
I had just set down to watch some tv in the large living room and who walk in the door?
A big blonde Austin Police Officer, with a tall tale of hair done up.  Of course she was the first woman I’d ever seen wearing a cannon on her hip inside her holster. I swallowed deeply “Helloooo”.
Ceil already knew my name. I felt I was being investigated already and who did my parents leave me with to kid watch me!!! 

She and Bill was a duo couple like no other. They always made it happen what ever the occasion might be. I’m still in shock hearing that she has passed away. I feel kind of selfish, I would love to have her back and let me volunteer mow her lawn and help things that needed an extra hand.

Plus love sitting in the jet stream with Bill & Ceil.
The Harts were always a whoot and a bunch family fun. I have enjoyed all the times of hanging with Ceil / The Harts any time or chance I’d get. They weren’t fake people. They were real and they’d tell like is to your face if you needed to hear it and be set straight. Love, Honesty , and family. 

Oh and don’t forget the cook of the century!
Ceils plates were southern food master pieces that could of solved the civil war if at the time…

Lastly, I will miss you Ceil and you have helped bring me up into being a better man because of being family!  It’s not an end it’s just a new beginning. Amen and God Bless, Ceil Hart and be gentle with her soul dear Lord and Father…

It’s true what they say - you may never know how your actions might affect someone else.  I certainly hope, Ceil Hart, that I let you know how much I appreciated the way you treated me and other female officers. You were loved by all, don’t get me wrong, but you held a special place in the hearts of those for whom you helped pave the way.

My heart goes out to your loved ones.  And I thank them for the sacrifices they made over the years in sharing you with us.  
   

Ceil had a heart of gold. An amazing woman with vision, love, and humility in her heart. She leaves a legacy in her family, in her BLUE family, and in the community at large. What a gem. Thank you for allowing, believing, supporting, and standing tall. You are loved and will truly be missed!
