Cecilia Ann was born in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1940. Her parents moved to Austin, Texas to raise their growing family. Cecilia was the oldest and the only redhead of the four Rabun children.
Cecilia Ann married the love of her life, Earl Daley, on February 14th 1960. Cecilia & Earl bought a little house in the middle of Oltorf where they raised their family for 62 years. Cecilia loved rescuing dogs and took in several dogs over the years (Brandi was the most recent). She attended water aerobics at the YMCA for years, and through this amazing group she learned how to kayak on Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake) in central Austin. More than anything, Cecilia loved supporting her children and grandchildren in all of their extracurricular activities (dance recitals, music recitals, soccer, softball, football, baseball, basketball, karate, etc). Cecilia was such a dedicated fan, she was hit by a foul ball, to the face, during one of her granddaughters’ softball games and stayed for the rest of the game. That black eye was a badge of honor for her and she was happy to share the story about how it happened with everyone.
Cecilia graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors’ of Art in 1988. She worked her entire career for the state of Texas (HHSC, Attorney General’s office) as a computer programmer and tester. She was a Girl Scout troop leader for decades in support of her daughters. She loved to travel and shared that love of travel with her grandkids (NY, Hawaii, Germany, Greece, Italy). Cecilia enjoyed attending her high school reunions at McCallum High school, class of 1959. Her graduating class called themselves the ‘6 year seniors’ this was because they were the first children to attend McCallum HS when it opened and due to lack of space they spent 6 years in high school. Cecilia was always the one at every event with a camera, she loved taking pictures and sharing the photos and memories with everyone. Cecilia also enjoyed attending live performances at the local Zach Scott Theater in Austin which she shared with her grandchildren.
