Cecil Dean Roberts Hollingsworth of Austin, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2015, at Pflugerville Care Center. She was 91 years of age. Born on December 5, 1923, in Liberty Hill to Cecil and Nina Roberts, Cecil Dean married Foy Hollingsworth of Spicewood on December 4, 1943, at her family home in Liberty Hill. After Foy finished his service in the Army, he and Cecil Dean returned from California to Austin where they lived the remainder of their lives. They were married for 55 years before he preceded her in death in 1999.
She was also preceded in death by her older sister, Christine Peterson, sisters-in-law Christine Brown and Naomi Hand, son-in-law Kenneth Fox¸ and granddaughter-by-marriage Kristi Moore. She is survived by two sisters, Imogene Foust of Liberty Hill and Wanda Block of Austin, and a sister-in-law, Norma Gay of Corpus Christi.
Cecil Dean and Foy left a beautiful Christian heritage for their four children. Surviving them are daughter Kay Fox of Dallas, daughter Cheryl and husband Don Moore of Georgetown, son Brent and wife Brooke Hollingsworth of Pflugerville and daughter Meleah and husband Kelley Jones of Austin.
That same heritage has been passed along to their 7 grandchildren: Chad Moore, Heather Fox, Amy (Moore) Swearingen, Collin Jones, Amy Kay (Jones) Lewis, Lanae Hollingsworth, John Hollingsworth, and 9 great-grandchildren: Katie, Megan, Luke and Matthew Moore; Ashley, Cade and Dawson Swearingen; and Lorelai and Corbin Jones.
Cecil Dean graduated from Liberty Hill High School at the young age of 15, having skipped a grade. Being too young to enter into business school, she had to wait a year before entering Nixon-Clay Business College where she took courses to become a secretary.
She and Foy were members of the Northside Church of Christ (now known as the Hyde Park Church of Christ) for many years. Cecil Dean became the church secretary there in 1960 and filled that position for 48 years until she retired in 2009. She was a faithful and loyal employee. Her church meant so much to her, and her many friends there were loved.
She was a wonderful, loving, giving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by many who loved her dearly! Praise God, she’s now with Him and rejoicing in being with those who have gone before her whom she loved and missed so much.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Pflugerville Care Center for the friendship and care they gave her during her three and a half year stay.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 6, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
