Cecil B. Dump

Cecil B. Dump May 26, 1920 – June 14, 2008 Cecil passed away peacefully on June 14, 2008. He was born in Benton County, Missouri, graduated from Chilicothe Business College and served his country in the US Navy in World War II. After his honorable discharge he went into Sales Management for 17 years before joining Ashland Oil, Inc., until his retirement in 1986. He then pursued a new career in the health insurance business which he enjoyed immensely, winning numerous trips and awards. Cecil loved God, his church, his family and his country. He was active in his church and was always on call to friends and neighbors in need, with two friends in particular – taking them to doctors, grocery shopping, the pharmacy, beauty shop or whatever was needed. His last trip to take a friend to get her prescription was just two weeks before his death. He was a member of the "Empty Nesters" at church and enjoyed being with all of his friends there. Cecil was active in sports. At a younger age, he coached Little League baseball. He was an avid fan of baseball, football and golf. Cecil was a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan. As a boy he often traveled to St. Louis with his family to watch the games. He loved to travel and was planning a trip for later this summer. He took the ultimate trip with acceptance and maybe not too much joy. He wanted to go to Heaven but he really didn't want to die. He was a very loving, kind, considerate man, loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; one sister, Maxine Stephens of Lee's Summit, MO; five nephews and one niece; step-daughters, Suellen Neimeier and Jan Soechting of New Braunfels; one step-son, Craig Hardin of Bulverde; three step-granddaughters and two step-grandsons. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th at Covenant United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.
