Casey was born in Norwich, Connecticut on July 22, 1978 to parents Mark and Shannon (Johnson) Toycen. At two years old, the family moved back to Mason City, Iowa where Casey spent her childhood, graduating from Mason City High School in 1996. Casey received her Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University in 2000 and shortly after moved to Texas where she continued her education, receiving her Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005. Casey went on to work as the Statewide Planning Branch Manager for the Texas Department of Transportation.
While in Texas, Casey met the love of her life and the man who would be her partner through all of life’s journeys, Eric Dusza. Casey and Eric were married on October 14, 2006. Their family grew to include two beautiful boys, Gavin and Dylan. Casey’s boys were the joy her life.
