Carolyn (Carrie) Alvarez was born on October 5, 1925 to the late Maria de Jesus and Augustine Rivera. She departed this life on September 9, 2014 at her home in Austin, Texas with her children by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Alvarez, Sr. and siblings Dolores, Maria de la luz, John and Basilio.
Carrie was married to Bennie Alvarez for 54 years and spent a lifetime together making memories. She spent her career as a thoughtful and caring nurse for 32 years at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas. Carrie loved to watch her boys play fast-pitch softball and spent many hours at the field cheering them on. She enjoyed dancing, loved to stop and enjoy a beautiful rose, and could always be found wearing a stylish outfit with matching shoes and purse. Carrie loved her grandchildren dearly, she would say that babies are a gift from God and to always love and show them the right path. While she preferred to be a passenger in a car, she finally got her first car when she was 42 years old. She enjoyed reading and was a faithful member of San Jose Church.
Carrie will be remembered as a mother who devoted her life to her family, helping and supporting them whenever needed.
