Carolyn I. Farrar

Carolyn Irene Farrar, aka "Pooh" to her Grandchildren, passed away, Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the age of 85. Born in Bremerton, Washington, raised in San Diego, CA, retired in Austin, TX but lived all over the world. Her vast experiences included working as an FBI stenographer, driving her 1960 red MG convertible, living and traveling overseas as the wife of a Navy pilot. She loved living and traveling in Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Tai Pei, Thailand, and Hawaii. Her travels together with her love of interior design made an eclectic, beautiful, and loving home. Carolyn was a doting and creative Mom who taught you that you could make anything from whether it be a Christmas ornament, a cookbook, staining furniture, sewing or even making a table. She was a 30-year Navy wife who gave service to those in need, women's clubs, and moved her family 13 times. Carolyn was an amazing cook who loved recipes that made a new delicious meal almost every night. She was a great hostess who threw amazing cocktail parties with lots of laughter. She loved to read anything she could get her hands on devouring at least two books a week. Carolyn loved dogs and dogs loved her (because she always had food); she loved her dogs Suzie, Bella, Bebe, and granddog, Sugar.

When asked about her favorite life experiences she would say the birth of her grandchildren; her great-grandparents' farm in Hewitt, MN; living in Coronado, California as a young Navy wife going to the beach with friends and babies; living in the Philippines and Japan; visiting St. Barth's with her husband; being invited to the Windows on the World Celebration in New York City for Liberty weekend in1986 and happy hours with her husband of 61 years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Capt. Bobby Clark Farrar, USN(Ret.); her son, Sean Farrar, and wife, Catherine; her daughter, Vale Farrar, and two grandsons, Raleigh and Mason Kelley, the true apples of her eye who she affectionately called, Raleigh Pie and Mason Darling. She is also survived by her sister, Marolyn Lavra, and her husband, John. Carolyn was predeceased by her mother and father, Ruth Irene Harden and Milton Henderson, Stepfather Farrell Harden, and sister, Judy Merino. A private memorial service will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd.
