Carolyn (Holder) Blankenship of Lockhart, TX, age 68, passed away peacefully in her home on January 29, 2013. Born in Sweetwater, TX, she was a longtime resident of Austin. After graduating from Travis High, she worked for the City of Austin for more than a decade. She then served as Volunteer Coordinator and Education Director for the Austin Center for Attitudinal Healing for another decade. Building on her experience there, she later facilitated groups in Writing, Poetry, Story Telling, the Empowerment of Women, and Feminine Spirituality. She was also a gifted amateur sculptor, artist, and handcrafter.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gesna Holder. She is survived by her husband, Monty Northrup; her siblings, Cheryl Taylor and James Holder; her daughters, Gina Harris and Julie Hardy; her step-son, Tony Northrup; her beloved grandchildren, Sophie, Sydney, and Riley; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 pm Saturday, Feb 2 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 2620 S. Congress, Austin, TX. Family and friends will celebrate her life in a Private Memorial Service at the same location 2-4 pm Sunday, Feb 3.
