Carolyn Elaine Barnes was born August 4, 1945 in Rantoul, Illinois, a daughter of Paul and Erma (Funkhouser) Schneider. She married Ronald T. Barnes on July 25, 1966 in Rantoul, Illinois at The First United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters Sherry Barnes and Stephanie Miller and her son-in-law, Kevin Miller of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren Noah and Amber Miller of Austin, Texas; brother Ronald Schneider of Rantoul, Illinois and two sisters Phyllis Davis of Rantoul, Illinois and Kathy Schneider of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by her Aunt Ina Funkhouser and several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn attended Rantoul City Schools and graduated from RTHS in 1965. She was a member of The Job's Daughters Bethel #104 in Rantoul, Illinois. Carolyn traveled the world with her family as a "military brat" and later with her husband and family, (also in the military). Carolyn's purpose in life was to take care of children at her in-home daycare center, especially children who had challenges. She enjoyed seeing them succeed in milestones and in the things they learned. Her greatest loves were her daughters, grandchildren, her dogs, and walking. She also enjoyed going out for iced tea with her daughters, night drives, listening to music and watching movies like "Shall We Dance", "Charlotte's Web" and "Mamma Mia".
