Carolina (Kina) Peña

Carolina Peña, 90, beloved sister, aunt, and friend was called to heaven on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2012. As in life, she was surrounded by beloved family and friends. Fondly known as Kina, she was born on September 2, 1921 in Elgin, Texas to Julio Peña, Sr. and Alberta Sandoval Peña.

Kina was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Sam Peña, Jesus Peña, David Peña, and Julio Peña, Jr.; sisters, Juanita Montemayor, Josephine Reyes, and Beatrice Ferrales. She is survived by sisters, Rebecca Gutierrez and husband, Joe and Julia Jonse; brothers, Richard Peña and wife, Mila and Severo Peña and wife, Alicia; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Peña; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff at Southwood Care Center and to Crystal and Veronica of Odyssey Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, May 20, 2012 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Reverend Jose Mario Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow services at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
