Carol King Schweitzer peacefully left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior June 6, 2008 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was surrounded by her adoring family when she entered the Kingdom of God. Carol is survived by her husband, John Campbell Schweitzer of Austin, her daughters and son in laws Lyle and Leete Jackson, Lane and John Ray, her grandsons Campbell Leete Jackson, Luke Riley Jackson and John Richards Ray, Jr., of Dallas, her parents Dorothy and Rufus King and brothers Al and Larry King, all of Wichita Falls. Carol was born on January 24, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She attended Wichita Falls High School, then attended Stephens College, whereupon graduating in 1964 she attended The University of Missouri where she was a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority and graduated in 1966. She and John were married August 12, 1966 and she taught elementary school while John completed his master's degree at the University of Missouri. John and Carol then moved to El Paso, Texas where John served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years. They remained in El Paso for twenty years, where they had both of their beautiful daughters, Lyle and Lane. Carol was involved in The Junior League and many other community activities while living in El Paso. In 1988 the family moved to Austin, Texas where she spent the remaining twenty years of her life. She loved Austin, and all of her wonderful friends. However, what she loved most was graciously raising her two beautiful daughters and spending time with her beloved husband John. Carol made everything beautiful. She had a way of making everyone she met, regardless of their place or station in life, feel truly unique and special. She will be missed beyond any description by her family and many treasured friends who will carry her in their hearts for the rest of their lives. The funeral will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. A private family burial will be held at Austin Memorial Park.
