Carmen Tamayo Moreno, 76, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease. She is now reunited into the loving arms of her husband Jesse, who preceded her in death, and was joined by her 101-year-old mother, just 18 hours after her passing. Carmen was born to Encarnacion and Consuelo Tamayo in Lockhart, TX, married Jesse, moved to Austin in 1956, and raised 6 children.
Carmen is survived by her children and their spouses, Christine Beardslee (Jim), Rita Cisneros, Deborah Moreno, Joel Moreno (Lola), Helen Bessner (Bruce), Linda Price (Brent), Roger Cisneros (Son-In-Law), 20 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her 10 brothers, Albert, Thomas, Tony, Eddie, David, James, Richard, Leonard, Nick, & Bill Tamayo, 5 sisters, Vivian Carrizales, Mary Moreno, Irma Tamayo, Patricia Benavides, and Priscilla Tamayo, and numerous extended family members. Besides her husband, Carmen is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Tamayo (brother), and 1 grandchild. Carmen's mother passed away the following morning, Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Lockhart, Texas.
Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, 205 W. Pecan St. in Lockhart.
Visitation is Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar in Austin.
Funeral Mass is at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7th at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Rd in Austin. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.
