Carlos B. Gutierrez Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on March 29, 1938, in Spofford, Texas, and spent his final years in Austin, Texas. Carlos was a man of strength, loyalty, and love—a true family pillar who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Carlos was known for his unwavering work ethic and deep commitment to his family. He was a dedicated family man who found great joy in spending time outdoors with his loved ones. Many cherished memories were made as he took his family to the lake for swimming and fishing.
In his youth, Carlos met the love of his life, Marcelina Zulema Gutierrez (Estrada), at a football game. Their love story spanned six decades, and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. Together, they enjoyed dancing and sharing a lifetime of love and companionship.
Carlos proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. He often regaled his family with stories from his time in service.
Carlos is survived by his three children: Carlos Gutierrez Jr., Chris Gutierrez, and Christina Niedecken, along with their spouses. He is also survived by his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy and pride.
Carlos was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Zulema Gutierrez (Estrada), his parents, Ramond and Genobeva Gutierrez, and his siblings, Ramond and Oralia.
A funeral service for Carlos will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752.
