Carey Harden McAdams was born August 20, 1936, in Amarillo, Texas, to Willard William McAdams and Mattie Clark McAdams. He passed this life on March 13, 2010. Carey was educated in Groom, Texas schools and Texas Tech University where he received a BBA in 1958. May 31, 1958, he married Linda Kay Warren of Lamesa, Texas. Carey was always a businessman and for thirteen years owned and operated McAdams Butane and Oil Company in Groom. He was involved in various other business interests there and in Austin, Texas, where he and Linda and their three children moved in 1973. For twenty-five years he owned and operated Texas Alternator. In 1998 he sold the business to his son and retired to enjoy every day. He was a happy man. Carey and Linda were married for fifty–one years and had three children of whom he was very proud. He is survived by his wife Linda; children LeAnn Nabors and her husband Bill Nabors; Lindsay Thomas and her husband Mike Thomas; Joel William McAdams and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Andrew William McAdams and Zachary Edward McAdams; Michael Peter Thomas, Meredith Kay Thomas and William Harden Thomas; sisters Doris Kuehler of Amarillo and Sue Smith of Berryton, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews. Carey was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ludeen Wieberg. Carey was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, The Headliners Club of Austin, Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, past director of The State National Bank in Groom, Texas, and various community, business and civic organizations during his life. Carey served in the Texas National Guard. Services will be Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 8001 Mesa Drive, Austin, Texas, followed by a reception at the church. A family graveside service will be held after the reception. The family requests that memorials honoring Carey's life be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
