CB was born the youngest of four children to James and Ima Ashley in Sulphur, Oklahoma on October 8, 1936. CB graduated from Belton High School in 1956. Shortly afterward, he enlisted in the Air Force. In 1965, while stationed overseas, he married his wife Noriko in Tokyo, Japan and went on to have two children, Daryl and Owen.
CB retired from the Air Force in 1978 and moved back to Austin Texas, where he lived for 45 years. He was an avid hobbyist and enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, model trains, and tinkering with electronics. His most recent passion was for cameras and photography.
CB was preceded in death by his father, James, mother Ima, and two sisters, Ann and Betty.
He is survived by his wife, Noriko, his brother, James Eugene (Sonny) and his wife Jean, his son Daryl and his partner Janice, his son Owen, his grandson Christopher and his wife Laura, and their three sons Preston, Everett, and Tristan.
