Bruce Kyle Felder, 74, of Austin, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 31st, 2021. He remained committed to his devout faith despite many trials, and passed peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved daughters. He will be terribly missed.
Bruce was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 12, 1947 the eldest son of L.A. Felder and Inez Simmons. After graduating from Travis High School, he attended the University of Texas and served in the Navy before following in his father’s footsteps in the construction industry. A man of integrity, he took much pride in quality of workmanship and found joy and fulfillment in building homes for families.
Bruce met the love of his life, Janet when he worked as a cook and she was a waitress at the Rainbow Inn in Austin, and he remained utterly devoted to her for 47 years of marriage until her passing in June of 2021. Together they raised 3 cherished daughters. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to Janet, it was evident to everyone who knew him that his wife meant everything to him.
Although Bruce loved adventures, from backpacking in Europe, road trips on his Harley or campers, ski trips, and fishing at the beach, he was equally happy at home perfecting his recipes on the grill, tending to his garden and spending time with his precious family.
He was a man of many words and when he started to tell a story, those around him knew they needed to settle in and get comfortable because his stories were very thorough to say the least.
Bruce said the best day of his life was when he accepted Christ. He was a man of faithful prayer and intercession on behalf of family, friends, community and those in need. His faith led to action and for many years he served the local homeless community, prison ministries and on various missions trips.
His daughters Lisa Van Allen (Paul), Jackie Yarbrough (Cody), Rachel Smith (Rob) will survive him by continuing to share his faith, love and spirit along with his dearly loved grandchildren Ava (14), Layla (12), Henri (6), Ruby (3) and Ryder (1). He is also survived by his loving siblings Jan Currier and Scott Felder.
A graveside service honoring Bruce’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, November 8th, 2021, at Cook Walden Forest Oaks.
