Bruce graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1976 with a Bachelors of Science Degree, and worked as a financial analyst for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan for several years. He returned to Eastern Michigan University to earn both a Masters of Science Degree, and Teaching Certification, in 1989. Bruce was an accomplished Science teacher working with thousands of students at San Antonio ISD, and Northside ISD in San Antonio, TX; and at Round Rock ISD, in Round Rock, Tx. Following his formal retirement from teaching, he continued to share his love for the sciences as a substitute teacher near his home.
Bruce found special joy spending time and talking with his daughters and grandchildren. He also loved his dogs Dottie and Bennie, swimming, barbecuing, cooking/baking, traveling, reading, and gardening. As an avid gardener he earned his Master Gardener Certification, and his beautiful landscape designs were enjoyed by many homeowners, and communities.
Bruce was preceded in death by his mother and father, Eugene K. Dayton and Dorothy E. (Lorson). He is survived by Jessica M. Miller (Chris Miller), Kathryn J. Asmus (Nick Asmus); his dear grandsons Blake C. Miller, Brayden M. Asmus, Tyler T. Miller, and Luke C. Asmus; and his brothers Eugene K. Dayton Jr. and Gary J. Dayton, and their families.
Bruce was a wonderful Dad and Grandpa. He will be missed dearly by his family, his dogs, and all who cherished his friendship.
