Brian was born on May 16, 1964. Brian was a 1982 graduate of Liverpool High School and a graduate of Onondaga Community College (OCC). Brian moved to Texas following his graduation from OCC. He worked as an Independent Moving Consultant with the skill of an interior designer. He was a photographer, an explorer, and a mentor. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, photography, traveling, swimming, scuba diving, music, singing, dancing, and landscaping/gardening.
Brian was dearly loved by his wife Elaine and their son, Miles. Elaine was Brian's best friend and the love of his life. They shared a 23-year marriage full of laughter, love, and spontaneous dance parties in the kitchen. Their son, Miles, just graduated from high school and has started his freshman year at Austin Community College. Miles will always be Brian's pride and joy. He was so excited to see Miles grow up and follow his dreams.
Brian is also survived by his parents, Patricia and Donald MacLaughlin of Liverpool, NY; brother, Barry (Kacey) MacLaughlin of Evergreen CO; sister Laura (Andrew) Calderwood of Liverpool, NY and sister Donna (Mark) DeRycke of Fairport, NY; nieces and nephews, Emma MacLaughlin, Elise MacLaughlin, Trey (Darby) MacLaughlin; Ethan, Abby, and Bryce Calderwood; Ben and Caitlyn Marcello and Jason DeRycke.
Brian will be remembered for his serene soul that calmed those who knew him, as well as his deep appreciation for nature which was his spiritual cathedral. Brian was larger than life and never could be contained within a border. He was a free spirit, a moral compass for those who were within his circumference, a creative soul who documented his experiences, an explorer who appreciated life and a sentimental soul who voiced his passions in song and verse.
Brian's favorite quote was from Thoreau: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." Brian DID live the life he imagined, with love and passion.
