Billy was born in Kilgore, TX to Bill and Mickey Peters.
A talented business man, Billy owned and operated many businesses in the Oak Hill, Dripping Springs and Lake Travis communities. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Billy started working at Country Grocery and Market at the “Y” in Oak Hill in 1972. This is where Billy found his life’s passion for retail sales and community service and life partner, Pam. He is known best for his customer service and dedication to his employees and customers at Cedar Valley Grocery and Paleface Grocery.
No job was too small or mundane at the stores for Billy. Anybody who knew him, saw him sweeping, taking out trash, stocking coolers, or taking a minute to smile and talk to the many customers who came to see him every day. He was a fixture in the community for 44 years.
He is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Pam Peters; children: David and Marta Black, of Sultan, WA and Cari Peters Orts, of Spicewood, TX; his grandchildren, McCrea, Garrett, Keegan, Sullivan and Finnley Black and Riley Orts; brothers: Ted Peters and Lemuel Peters; and by many family friends and members of the community who he touched.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Peters.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks.
