She quit school at the age of 15 to assist her mother after her father’s death getting a job at Federal Department Store at 50 cents an hour and later obtained a GED.
In 1951, with her husband stationed in Guam, she got a job with Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an operator at $1.00 an hour eventually retiring from what was then Southwestern Bell.
She was actively involved in both Bethany Lutheran Church and was a founding member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bridge, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” and daughter Barbara.
She is survived by her son Gary Coffman and wife Teri Haddad, daughter, Shirley Peek and Rob, grandchildren Sean Bosenbark and wife Angie, Joshua Peek and wife Stephanie, Billy Peek and husband Kal Haines, and Christopher Peek and wife Gabby; great grandsons Russell Bosenbark and wife Katherine Cumpton, Geoffrey Bosenbark and wife Gabby, and Brendon Bosenbark, great-great granddaughters Mattie Peek and Charlotte and Claire Bosenbark.
