Betty Pickett Wilson, age 88, died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 18, 2018. She was born and raised in Ft. Worth, Texas. Her parents were Mabel and Harry Pickett. Her sister was Sue Sinclair, who predeceased her by only a few months.
Betty met Jim Wilson when she moved to Austin and they both worked at the same law firm. She always said she found the smartest young lawyer; he says he found the best dancer and the cutest thing he had ever seen. They were married in 1952 and had a wonderful life together for 66 years. They have two children—Alex Wilson Albright (married to Clint Parsley) and Bill Wilson (married to Cathy Wilson)—and five grandchildren—Tommy (Martha), Wilson and Jack Albright and Will and Rees Wilson. Betty was a dedicated community volunteer in Austin (Heritage Society, Paramount Theater, Town Lake Beautification, Austin Symphony, Texas Book Festival, and Ransom Center) and Houston (Texas Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts, Planned Parenthood, and SPARK).
Thank you to Elida Rocha, Nurses Case Management and their wonderful nurses and aides, and Westminster Manor for their love and devotion to Betty.
Betty's family will greet friends at a reception celebrating Betty's life on Tuesday, November 20, 2:30-4:30 pm, at Tarry House.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to The Trail Foundation, or another of the many organizations Betty supported.
