She was born to William Bryan Collier and Bertha Mae (Henderson) Collier on April 15, 1924 in Donna, Texas. A 1941 graduate of San Jacinto High and a 1945 graduate of Southwestern University, Betty Jean married Mr. M. G. Heck, Jr. of Giddings on January 31, 1946. "Tractor Heck" preceded her in death on March 27, 2007. Her sister, Maribel (Jaye) Collier, passed away twelve days previously.
Betty Jean and M. G. leave three cherished children; Bryan (Linda), Susan Newbeny (Neal) and Garrett (Hollie) , four outstanding grandchildren: Ashley Springer (Chris), Ross Newberry (Mary), Colin Newberry (Lauren) Weston Heck (Chyan) and four beautiful great- grandchildren. Special family Linda#l, Aunt Karen, and Dani will also miss our sweet Dede.
Betty Jean was a Houston resident for over seventy years and was a long time member of Westbury United Methodist Church. Betty Jean resided at Englewood Estates in Austin for the last two years where she made many new and dear friends.
