He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Storey, Gloria Pitts, Charles Band; daughters, Camille Cherry and Deedra Owens.

He was united in holy matrimony to Carol Elaine Howell in November of 2007.

Benny heard the call of duty to his country and entered the United States Air Force in June 1976 – September 1996. As a Computer Systems Operations Management Analyst, he was charged with ensuring that our Air Force computer security systems remained impenetrable. His military accomplishments are many to include Operation Desert Shield & Storm. His military medals awarded include Air Force Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Joint Svc Commendation and Meritorious Svc Medal.

His life will be forever cherished in the lives of his children, Lacretia, Benny & Jamese Cherry, Benny Bailey, Darhonda and Michelle Pitts, Michael Brown, Veronica Jeter, Marci, Dwayne and Larissa Howell 34 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Charlie Early, Mary Willie, Yvonne Pitts and Paige Shephard; his brothers, Arthur Pitts, Charles Booker, Curtis Wilson; sister-in-law, Connie Pitts; brother-in-laws, Robert Early, Gerald Willie and Jewel Storey.

Memorial Service 11:00 am Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.
