Belinda graduated from Travis High School in Austin, Texas. She then went on to work for Progressive Insurance Company and then for a local Catholic church in East Austin as an administrative support associate. Throughout her working life, Belinda took on various roles as a leader and manager; she found success in every occupation she fulfilled.
In 1985, Belinda and her husband Neil Williams gave life to their first child, Neil Williams Jr. They would later have a second child together, Marina Williams. Despite her professional success, however, Belinda maintained that her proudest accomplishment was to have raised her beloved children, Neil Jr., and Marina. She loved them both from the moment they were born; without reservation, and unconditionally, she loves them still. Until the end of time, and eternity thereafter, her love for them will never fade.
Belinda would meet another great love of her life in 1999: Tom Creighton. The two shared many years of friendship and professional time together before their relationship developed into a romantic one. They married on June 5, 2009, and would celebrate many more years of that love and genuine friendship as husband and wife.
As a woman, and perhaps more as a mother, Belinda possess some of the most endearing qualities that we hope to find in our fellow Man; she was firm, smart, often funny. Sometimes she’d get after her children, helped us with our homework, and had us all in stitches with a funny story, all in the same evening.
In 1981, while a member of the American Dolls dance team, Belinda traveled to Washington D.C., to participate in Ronald Reagan’s inauguration.
While working for Unisys in a managerial position, she was once chosen to go to England as a representative of the company. Being a music enthusiast, she was thrilled to have the chance to see Abbey Road and the Cave Club, where The Beatles were discovered. While overseas, she also visited Scotland and France.
Punctuality was a cornerstone of Belinda's career; for her, being early was “on time,” but simply being “on time” was late. Wherever she landed in her career she didn’t stay long, advancements and promotions were a matter of routine in her professional life. And no matter the task at hand, no matter the hardships she faced, she was always known for her smile and laugh. Despite her success, Belinda remained modest; she was always there to help someone else, even if it meant putting her further behind in her own duties and obligations.
There was never a time when Belinda didn’t have a pet, such was her fondness of other creatures. She loved dogs and was an environmentalist at heart. She cherished the Earth, and running was more than a hobby to her, it was a way to celebrate life and the outdoors. Camping on the beach was more than a weekend getaway, for Belinda each and every trip was a chance to get closer to nature. Belinda's most recent job position was a park technician at Hamilton Pool; she treasured the opportunity to spend every day enjoying nature and sharing that joy with others.
Belinda is preceded in death by her mother Maria Cavazos and her brother Joseph Mejia.
Belinda is survived by her children Neil Williams Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Marina Williams of Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as by their father Neil Williams of Austin, Texas; her husband Tom Creighton of Austin, Texas; her father Pedro "Pete" and stepmother Lupita Mejia of Austin, Texas; her sisters Cynthia (Eric) Guevera of Cedar Park, Texas, June (Alan) Bennett of Austin, Texas, Sonia (Hans) Marrero of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Robina (Justin) Newsom of Taylor, Texas; her beloved dog Blue; as well as by several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
