Beatrice D. McQueen Beatrice D. McQueen, 88, was born Jan. 17, 1917 in Houston, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. On Jan. 19, 1935, she married Joe B. McQueen. After the war the McQueens moved to Fayette County for several years. The family moved to Austin in 1953; in 1955 they founded Instrument Engineering Company, now known as IEC CORPORATION. During the sixties, she was a founding member of the Austin River Rats Water Ski Club and later the Austin Drag Boat Assoc. In 1978 Joe retired from the family business to raise cattle and Beatrice took control of running the business with son-in-law John Paul Hudson. She was active in The Womens Chamber of Commerce, The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo, (formally known as Travis County Livestock Show), the American Murray Grey Assoc., the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Assoc., and St. Theresas Catholic Church. She also was active in many community organizations and charities. Beatrice is survived by her brother, John Silvey of Houston, daughter Cynthia Barrow and her husband Theodore, daughter Diana Hudson and her husband John Paul, granddaughter Heather Hudson Pearson and her husband David (Snap), grandson Casey McQueen Hudson and great-granddaughter Sydney Alexandra Pearson. Pallbearers will be: Florencio Canizales, Jr., Jose Roberto Villanueva, Frank Olsovsky, Mike Arsenault, David Kincannon, Garland Shelton, Roy Jackson, and Lynn Lollar. Honorary pallbearers will be: Odis Welch, Don Hudson, Ed Claiborne and Robert Chavarria. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 in St Theresas Catholic Church. Burial will be at Austin Memorial Park. The Rev. Msgr. Edward Jordan, Rev. Msgr. Richard McCabe, and Rev. Msgr. Edward Matocha will concelebrate the mass. The family wishes to thank Marie Kinney for her years of companionship to Bea, also to all at Grace House of Lake Travis for their care and support to all of us.
