Buddy proudly served his country in World War II in the United States Navy. After his dedicated service he came back to Texas and attended the University of Texas. There he met the love of his life Ella Louise Mussett . They were married for over 66 years. Buddy was a lifetime member in both the UT Ex-Students Association and the AGC (Associate General Contractors) Heavy Highway Branch. He was also a Deacon Emeritus in the Friendship Baptist Church and a member of the Baptist Church of Driftwood. Buddy owned and operated the Texas Bridge Company for 40 years, building bridges all over Texas including the 35th Street bridge over Mopac. In his retirement, he was a successful rancher in the Dripping Springs area.
Buddy will be remembered as a man of great integrity and an avid Longhorn sports fan. He was a generous man who loved his family and will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known him.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Ella Louise Burba; son, Ed Burba; daughter, Sharon Burba and husband John DeAngelo; grandchildren, Andrea Burba Fiebiger and husband Ryan and Jayton Burba and numerous other loving family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX 78749.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice Austin at www.hospiceaustin.org, or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nelson Ozoa, M.D., his wife Marissa and the staff at South Austin Assisted Living who provided loving care for Buddy. The family is also grateful for the staff at Hospice Austin, especially Jacque Shroyer, Peg Maupin and Sarah Bentley.
