August Jr. was born in San Antonio, Texas to August Rudolph Motloch Sr. and Annie Vrana Motloch on August 27, 1942.
August Jr. attended St. Austin's Parochial School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1960.
August Jr. joined the U.S. Navy while in high school. During his active duty, he was aboard the U.S.S. Eugene A. Greene. He toured the Mediterranean Sea and his ship was deployed to the Caribbean Sea during the Cuban Missile Crisis. August retired from the Naval Reserves after 35 years of service.
After returning home from the service, he worked in Austin doing road construction, heavy equipment operation, as well as worked as a mechanic and a welder. He also worked for Travis County in the road maintenance division. He retired from Travis County.
August was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
After retirement, August enjoyed fishing with family at the coast and at the lake. He always enjoyed traveling, especially every other year going to the Naval ship reunions. He loved company, always playing Dominos, cards, and Czech Taroky. He spent many days cooking and making BBQ for his family. He celebrated his 80th birthday with many friends and family and had an awesome time.
August was a member of San Jose Catholic Church, the KJT Austin Society #112, the VFW, and the American Legion.
August was preceded in death by his parents August Rudolph Motloch Sr. and Annie Vrana Motloch; as well as by his brother James Edward Motloch.
August is survived by Rebecca, his wife of 45 years; his children Laura Turner, August R. Motloch III (wife Sandra), and Travis N. Motloch (wife Meghan); grandchildren Ashley Motloch, Matthew Bebee (wife Claire), August Motloch IV and Wesley Motloch (wife Briana), Aaliyah and Hunter Motloch; great-granddaughter Amanda McCarty; siblings Henry J. Motloch (wife Cyndi), Frances J. Stojanik (husband Robert), and Raymond E. Motloch; as well as by Aunt Elsie McDaniel and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation for August will be held on Tuesday, November 22 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, November 23 at 11:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704 with a graveside to follow at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
