Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and uncle, Arthur Noel Ybarra was called unexpectedly by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the age of 57. After graduating from Del Valle High School in 1975, he enlisted in the United States Army. While stationed in Korea for his 2nd overseas tour, he met his beautiful wife Okyon K. Ybarra with whom he had two sons, John D. Ybarra and Richard D. Ybarra.
Sgt. (Ret.) Ybarra's awards include the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6), Overseas Ribbon (3), and Army Drivers Badge. Arthur retired from the Army in 1995 and returned to Korea in 2002.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Modesta Reyes Ybarra; son, Richard Daniel Ybarra.
Arthur is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Okyon (Kim) Ybarra; son, John Ybarra; grandson, Jaiven Ybarra; father, Jose C. Ybarra; brother, Armando Ybarra (Denise), sisters, Terry Ybarra Romero (Andrew) and Anita Ybarra Carrizales (Steve); mother-in-law, Myeong-hee Hong; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ybarra will lie in state at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home South Congress on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 with Recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm at Dolores Catholic Church on Thursday, November 8, 2012 with Reverend Albert Ruiz officiating. Interment 9:45 am Friday, November 9, 2012 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be John Ybarra, Armando Ybarra, Diego Ybarra, David Herrera, Steven Carrizales II, Andrew Romero II, Michael Carrizales and Brandon Ybarra.
Arthur was a very supportive and loving husband, father, brother and son. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
