Archie was born on September 15, 1963, in Austin. He grew up in central Austin, attending Highland Park Elementary, Lamar Middle School, and was a 1982 graduate of McCallum High School. Born with burnt orange blood, Archie attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he was an active and engaged member of Delta Upsilon fraternity, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech in 1986. He went on for postgraduate work at the University of Arkansas, earning a Master of Science degree in 1991. Archie spent the majority of his career in pharmaceutical sales in the Weslaco/south Texas area, and most recently co-founded Gensavis, a pharmaceutical company specializing in iron supplements and multi-vitamins.
A Longhorn through-and through, Archie was a fan of UT sports, football in particular, and had a multi-decade streak of never missing a Texas/OU football game. He would sing his infant daughters to sleep by singing the Eyes of Texas, and whenever the appropriate opportunity presented itself, would proclaim “OU Sucks!”. He was a very active alumnus in the Delta Upsilon fraternity, holding several alumni board positions over the years. Many of his closest friends were DU brothers. Archie loved the outdoors, being with friends and family on Lake Travis and Lake Stanmire, and tending to his cows at his ranch. Archie was happiest when he was entertaining family and friends. He was the life of any party and was known to spend hours amusing his daughters, nieces and their friends in the lake, pool, or hot tub. Most get-togethers ended with Archie teaching the kids to play poker or Texas Hold’em. He could often be found holding court in a room full of people telling stories, talking about college football, bragging about his daughters, or sharing his views on the government or world events. Archie was an Eagle Scout and an active member of more than 23 years of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Weslaco Lodge 2057.
The true loves of his life are his wife, Erin, and daughters, Kathleen and Lauren. He was very proud of his girls, always eager to brag on their activities, endeavors, and accomplishments. He watched with awe as they have grown into remarkable, talented young women. He’ll be with them always as they graduate from high school and college, embark on successful careers, and enjoy long and happy lives.
Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home North on October 11, 2022, at 1pm. Weed-Corley-Fish, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, 78731. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity or non-profit of your choice. (OU Sucks!)
