She was born in Austin, Texas on January 17, 1930 and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School. On July 13, 1952, she married the love of her life, Pete M. Velasquez. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2007. Together they raised six children, the youngest born with Downs Syndrome. She was a wonderful homemaker and great cook. She was best known for her delicious molé. She was a devout catholic and was a member of the Cristo Rey Joy Group for over 10 years.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Pete M. Velasquez; her parents, Julian and Petra Teran; siblings, Julio Teran, Sr. Mary Inez Teran, Paul Teran, Phyllis Aleman, Blas Teran (infant), Adelina Teran (infant), Raymond Teran.
Mrs. Velasquez is survived by her six children, Anita O'Hora (Jon), Dolores Flores (Sabas), Kathy Casarez (Efrem), Stella Lewis (Chris), Peter Velasquez (Belinda) and her very special girl, Linda Velasquez; eleven grandchildren; Patrick O'Hora, Kelly McConnell (Robert), Dr. Stephen Flores, Marissa Flores, Amanda Casarez, Marc Casarez (Lauren), Ryan Casarez, Monique Kirbo (Nick), Michelle Difranco, Brianna Velasquez, Brittany Velasquez; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lupe Teran Rangel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be her four grandson, Richard Velasquez, and Frank Velasquez.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 28, 2017 Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 South IH 35.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brodie Ranch Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of our mom especially Angela and Judy, Melissa, Maria R. and Paola, Krystal and Staff of Physical Therapy, also special thanks to Hospice Austin, Dr. Holms, Mary Gilmore, Patricia and Nancy for their wonderful care and attention given to mom and special thanks to Mike's Place.
