Anabel, who was a 1957 graduate of Falfurrias High School, was a steadfast wife and companion to her husband David and an ever-present mother to their four children. After her children were grown, she embarked on a nearly 20-year career as a nursing aide, providing service and care to patients at the Premont Rehab Nursing Center in Premont, Texas. While this work was sometimes difficult, she often said it was immensely rewarding. It gave her great satisfaction to be of service to those in need.
Anabel was born in the rural area outside of Falfurrias, Texas, and used that bedrock of rural knowledge to help her husband David, who was both an employee of the US Postal Service and an accomplished farmer and rancher. She greatly enjoyed spending time maintaining her yard and plants. After her husband passed away in 2017, she moved to Buda, Texas, to be closer to her children. Even in her apartment at Creekside Villas Senior Village, she loved seeing things grow, and was an active member of the apartment complex garden club. She enjoyed her time there on her own, and established many friendships during her residency.
Anabel loved reading and the literary arts, and had a massive book collection encompassing everything from history to religion to mystery. She was also a published poet, with her work appearing in two separate volumes of poetry.
Anabel is preceded in death by her father, Bilzen Cuellar; mother, Petra Perez Cuellar; twin sister, Rosabel; infant sisters Maria Alma and Maria Teresa; brothers Juan, Jose, and Ruben; and grandson Jay Salgado.
