Ann grew up in Kansas where she met and married her “honey” Ken Gilmer on August 14, 1963 and was married over 60 years. They loved spending time together praying, exercising, dancing, and hosting family get-togethers.
Ann was a faithful Catholic and actively involved in her church. She attended mass most days and prayed the rosary. Ann was passionate about her family, healthy living, exercise, tennis, and running. As an enthusiastic athlete, she ran the Austin Capital 10K many times finishing in 4th place in her age group in 2023, at the age of 81. Ann played tennis up to six days a week and was a National Tennis Champion. She will be remembered most as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was loved and admired by all that knew her and considered a saint and true treasure to her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Bill and his wife Dorothy O’Donnell; and brother T.J. O’Donnell.
She is survived by her husband Ken Gilmer; her children Theresa (John) Traynham, Mary (Xavier) Gilmer, Steve Gilmer, and Catherine (Darrel) Solanik; her sister Mary (John) Mertes; her brother Jim (Rose) O’Donnell; her sister-in-law Marcia O’Donnell; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at 5:00 P.M., followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., on Monday, April 29th at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday April 30th, at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd, Austin, TX 78749
