Amanda Sue Johnson

Amanda Sue Johnson, 38 years young, resident of Austin, TX, departed from our world, January 29th, 2017 at 10:56 pm. She has moved on to a better place after her long combat with congenital kidney disease. She developed infection complications after her 2nd successful transplant in November 2016.

Amanda, also known fondly as AJ, Mandy, or The Chainsaw, was brought into this world as a gift to us all on November 14th, 1978, in Nevada Missouri. She was the oldest of three children born to Cynthia Louise Hollingsworth and James Hunter Hollingsworth. Nothing was more important to Amanda than her family, a value that was strongly instilled by her mother Cynthia.

She strongly believed in living life to the fullest, putting her family first, always being happy, and seizing the day. She was often found traveling, entertaining, learning, and enjoying every second of life she had. Her accomplishments with her poker career were impressive, competing in the world series, earning her name as "The Chainsaw". Few have a stronger work ethic, always striving to improve, grow, and succeed. She made every team she worked with a part of her family. Her time at the University of Texas, Ringers Sports Lounge and Capital Septic Supply to name a few were so very important to her.

Amanda was a beloved sister, constantly putting her siblings first. She was a daughter, loyal to her parents with endless love. A friend, always giving and rarely taking, reliable, welcoming. She was a provider and a role model, navigating and showing us who we should strive to be. She has been often described as incredibly selfless, always providing and caring for others, even in her own greatest times of need. She was resilient, strong, loving, kind, hilariously inappropriate, clever, unconditional, and open hearted. Anyone who has crossed her path has been instantly impacted, and forever changed. Her resilient and bright light will always shine on through us all.

Amanda was preceded in death by her cherished mother and best friend, Cynthia Louise Hollingsworth. However survived by her spirited father, James Hunter Hollingsworth. She leaves behind her adored siblings, James Aubrey Hollingsworth and Ashley Marie Hollingsworth, and esteemed brother in law, Lonnie Gene Dujmovic. Along with her beloved nephew, Noah Adam Hollingsworth, she is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family, family, and friends, who will all miss her very much.

There will be a celebration of life for close family and friends on February 11th, 2017 from 12 PM – 5 PM CST. Event to be held at One-2-One bar located on 1509 South Lamar Blvd, Ste 600, Austin, TX 78704. Please note that parking is limited, so if you are able to ride share or carpool, this would help greatly.

Those that knew Amanda were aware of her strong belief and support of Organ Donation, the gift of life. As a receiver of two kidney transplants Amanda was an active supporter of the cause, often attending events, and holding fundraisers. The greatest gift any of us could give Amanda is to ensure you have the tiny red heart on your driver license to show you want to donate life, in the loss of your own.
