Alvino R. Ojeda, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on April 3, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Born on March 27, 1937, he remained a lifelong resident of the city he loved and served.
A man of deep faith, Alvino was a devoted member of Sacred Heart of the Dolores Catholic Church. His unwavering commitment to his spiritual life provided strength and guidance throughout his journey and was a source of comfort to those around him.
Alvino was also a proud lifelong member of the Chicanos Unidos Car Club, where he found fellowship and joy among others who shared his love for classic and low-rider cars. His dedication to tradition and community shone through every gathering and event. In addition to his passion for cars, he enjoyed working as a barber and doing upholstery—crafts that reflected his skill and care. And on any given Sunday, you could catch him enjoying the fresh air or rooting for the Longhorns and Cowboys.
Those who knew Alvino will remember him for his quiet yet powerful presence. His deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered will be missed. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Alvino did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. Alvino had incredible patience and always made time to help others.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice; his great grandson Dominic; his son-in-law Seferino Jr.; grandson Seferino III; parents Lorenza and Felix; brothers Amador Sr and Guadalupe; and sisters Josephine and Ernestine. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Alvino is lovingly remembered by his daughters Diana, Sandra (Tony); sons Alvino Jr. (Priscilla), Eric Sr. (Erica); sisters Nieves, Josie; brother Dan Sr.; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and many others whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Alvino’s family is eternally grateful to Shawn McDonald, who was by his side in the final years of his life.
A Rosary for Alvino will be held Tuesday, April 15th from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish South Chapel, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday at 2 PM at Dolores Catholic Church 1111 Montopolis Dr., Austin, TX 78741. Burial following at Assumption Cemetery.
