FAMILY

Alton was preceded in death by his business associate of 30 years, Ronald J. Byers. Together, they worked, laughed, played and roamed the world collecting exquisite objects and a fair amount of junk along the way. Alton’s and Ron’s stories about their travels are legend. He was devoted to his parents. After his Mother’s death in 2002, Alton took his Dad to breakfast every morning followed by a trip to the cemetery so Mr. White could visit his dear Edith. These jaunts continued until Mr. White’s death in 2008. An only child until the age of 6, Alton was fond of saying his parents already had a perfect child so why didn’t they stop there. Nonetheless, he was joined by a sister and brother, Pat and Richard. The siblings and their spouses, Ed and Minell, enjoyed weekly family dinners with Alton. Alton is survived by sister Patricia White Keller and husband Ed of Austin; brother Richard J. White and wife Minell of Austin; nephews Mike White and wife Lisa and Christian J. White of Ohio; and grandnephews Austin and Evan White of Colorado. He is also survived by Jorge Almeida of Mexico City and Alton’s personal assistant Steven Mitchelle of Austin - both were like sons to Alton; Steven’s wife Karen and their children Tessa and Jackson; his longtime housekeeper Rocio Ochoa and groundskeeper Gino Padron; and many loving and devoted friends too numerous to name.
