Alice was born on October 22, 1929 in Nokomis, Illinois to Lewis and Helen Sweet.
Alice was gifted with exceptional intelligence and attended the University of Texas at Austin when she was just 15 years old. She graduated with a major in Plan II and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Delta Zeta sorority.
Alice was married to her husband, Dr. Wilbur O. White for 63 years. She met him when she was 16. They were married June 9, 1950, when she was 20. They then moved to Galveston where Will attended the University of Texas Medical Branch school. Alice worked to support them while Will attended medical school. She was a housewife and wonderful mother who took great care of her family for the rest of her life.
Alice was extremely active in the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection for many years. Alice served as senior warden, was on the vestry numerous times, and also sang in the church choir. Alice voluntarily served as the treasurer for not only the church, but also for the church’s school for many years. She also volunteered weekly at the thrift shop.
Alice’s favorite past time was playing bridge. She enjoyed multiple games a week with good friends over many years. She was a life master.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven O. White and her husband Dr. W. O. White. She is survived by her daughter Karen.
The memorial service for Alice White will be held at eleven o’clock on Saturday, June 3 at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 2200 Justin Lane, Austin, Texas 78757.
