A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she was born February 5, 1916, in Thorndale, Texas, to Willie Maude Lucky and Marvin S. Pugh. She weighed only two and one-half pounds at birth. She graduated from Taylor High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Wilbur DeWitt Sunday, and her brothers Jeff, Kenneth, and Bill Pugh and their wives, and her sister Eva Nell Phillips and her husband.
Surviving her is her beloved son Michael Bruce Sunday; grandchildren Karen Lynn (Sunday) Gillum and husband Earl “Dub” Jr., Steven Michael Sunday and wife Agnes, and their mother Barbara Sunday, and Jason Michael Sunday and his mother Patti Sunday; great-granddaughters Erica Michelle Gillum and Lauren Taylor Gillum; great-grandson Christopher Steven Sunday; and great-great-grandsons Oliver Preston Hammons and Bryson Lane Lozano; nieces Beverly Sunday Soucy, Sandra Sunday McCutcheon, and Joanne Sunday; nephew Keith Sunday; and sister-in-law Betty Sunday.
Alice retired from the Austin National Bank after 25 years; the majority of her time as manager in the safety deposit unit. She and Wilbur spent many years traveling to every state in the country in their motor home. They were long time members of the Good Sam Club. When they moved to Westminster Manor in 1995, they were very active in welcoming new members, volunteering to serve on various boards, and helping anyone and everyone in many endeavors. She was active in line dancing, loved Mexican food and margaritas. She made beautiful button necklaces for her friends and family, and was loved by everyone she came in contact with.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the wonderful staff at Westminster, Arbor Health Center, and Hospice Austin for their loving care. Special thanks to caregivers Kabresha Clark and Peggy Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Cook-
Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 A.M., following the visitation with Rev. Rip Collins, Faith United Methodist Church, officiating.
