Alice Marie Linscomb, age 82, of Westlake Hills, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Alice was a person of deep faith and a caring mother, wife and grandmother. She was born February 3, 1930 in Del Valle, Texas, the eldest of nine children born to Teresa Patzelt and John Joseph Sternnadle, Jr.
Alice graduated in 1948 from St. Mary's Academy in Austin. She and Horace exchanged vows on November 20, 1949 at St. Mary's Cathedral. Her husband's Air Force career took them to many states and many foreign lands where her children were born. At age 44, after returning to her hometown, she enrolled in ACC and became certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse two years later. She worked at Saint David's Hospital and South Austin Medical Clinic attending to patients like her own family until retirement. Those friendships and her lifelong Air Force friendships supported her through her own battle with breast cancer. Her gardening was a consuming passion as was her family, friends, her "kitties", and volunteering as a Communion Service Team member for St. John Neumann at The Summit. She was loyal, stubborn, a Texas big-haired lady, and proud of her Czech peasant ancestry.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lois, sister, Lena, and brothers, John, Jimmy, and George.
Alice is survived by her husband of 62 years, Horace Greely Linscomb, Jr., LTC USAF retired; daughters, Lizabeth Hancock (Mark), Licia Braune (Cliff); son, Thomas Linscomb (Jennifer); sisters, Betty Lafosse (Jim), Ann Savant ( Disca, Jr.), Rosie Hickman (Marvin); brother, Roddy (June).
