Alge Morris Collins, Jr.

  Alge Morris Collins, 81, transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Alge was born October 28, 1935 to Alge Morris Collins, Sr. and Henrietta Perkins Collins. Alge was the third of nine children. He attended Huston-Tillotson University and had an outstanding 20 year career as a United States Marine. He was preceded in death by his wife LaVerne Collins, his parents, three brothers, Henry Lewis Collins, Wright Collins and James Perkins Collins. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Maud Collins Caldwell, Virgie Collins Garrett and Henrietta Jean Collins Terrell. Alge leaves to carry on his legacy and beautiful memories, his daughter, Beverly Leaks and husband Roosevelt; his step son, Terry Houston; two grandsons, Prentiss Leaks and LaTerrence Houston; two granddaughters, Sabrina Leaks and Charde' Houston. Six great grandchildren, his sisters, Donnie Breedlove and husband Frank and Carrie Holmes and husband Zan. Two sister in laws, Sylvia Alyce Collins and Joyce Collins, along with other relatives and friends.The family will receive friends during the visitation on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in The Mercer Memorial Chapel of Fuller-Sheffield from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Greater Love Baptist Church 6601 Manor Rd., Austin, Texas 78723, beginning at 10:00amFollowing the Celebration of Life, the internment will be held at Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.Pastor Isaac Grant, Jr., - Officiate / Eulogist
