May 20, 1941 – February 25, 2015
If you went looking for Alexander Weil, III, you'd find him on the golf course with his friends, fly-fishing on the Texas coastal flats, or escaping to nature with his wife, Delaine, on their ranch near Briggs, Texas.
Alex died on February 25, 2015, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 73. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 20, 1941, he spent many boyhood summers with the cowboys on the Weil family's Palangana Ranch. He attended the University of Texas where he was a Sigma Nu, and graduated from the Plan II program in 1963. After graduating from the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston, Alex was a Captain in the Air Force, stationed in Abilene from 1967-1969. He practiced dentistry in San Antonio for 25 years, taking care of his patients with kindness and attention.
Alex married Delaine Scholl, of Austin, Texas in 1990 and retired shortly after, in 1994. Since then, he has been enjoying life with her, chasing redfish and taking care of his cattle.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Weil, Jr. and Paula Conolly Weil. He is survived by his wife, Delaine Scholl Weil; former wife, Penelope Speier; sister, Robin Brooks; daughter, Wendy, and her husband Billy Atwell; daughter, Lexa, and her husband Cameron Gulley; stepdaughter, Lainey, and her husband Jeffrey Fisher; stepson, Alan Duncan; stepson, Darin, and his wife Kari Walker; and grandchildren, Annie, Cita and Ally Atwell; Alexander Gulley; Morgan, Forrest and Evie Fisher; and Jackson and Madelynn Walker.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Christopher House for their incredible love, compassion and guidance, and request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Austin's Christopher House, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Ste. 100, Austin, Texas, 78759.
A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1 PM.
