On January 21, 1947 to the delight of her parents Albert and Florence Clemons, Albert Louise Clemons was born. She was a gift that her family cherished and loved. She was raised in the St. John’s neighborhood and educated in Austin public schools. She graduated from the highly acclaimed L.C. Anderson High School Class of 1965.
In high school Louise fell in love and later married Joseph Hill in August of 1964. To this union three children were born: Cynthia Mashane, Joseph, III, and David Christopher. Raising a strong family in the fear and admonish of God was the focus of the Hill household. Louise focused her love on her family, cooking and sewing.
As her children started to school, Louise worked for many years as a seamstress at Frost Bros. clothing store located in North Cross mall in Austin, Texas. She later found a position that married her love for jewelry and her sales experience at Edison’s Department Store. Louise retired and returned her attention to caring for her family and her church. Louise loved shopping and traveled to Mexico on shopping trips. She loved camping and fishing with her family and friends.
Louise loved the Lord and was a faithful and active member of the Mt. Calvary Primitive Baptist Church until her health failed. She served on the Usher board, choir president Women’s Ministry and other areas of the church when she was needed. She loved to beautify the church and decorating with flowers.
Her daughter could not decide if she loved cooking more than baking; but her family agreed that she loved to entertain and host her family and friends. Large family gatherings for Christmas and the holidays were the norm. Her family recalls parties and gathering down through the years filled with love and Louise’s good cooking.
Louise and Joseph moved to Briggs Texas more than 30 years ago and built their dream home on a picturesque property. Louise spent her final hours surrounded by love and family in the peace of her home.
Louise joined the angels and a welcoming committee of the family that included her parents, her brother, Albert, Jr., her son Joseph, III and other family members and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Joseph Hill, Jr., daughter Cynthia Mashane Johnson (Jerry) of Briggs, Texas and son David Christopher Hill (Melissa) of Round Rock, Texas; and her nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, her favorite cousin and best friend Willie Mae Sexton and many other family and friends.
