It is with sadness we share that William Adam Carter passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2018, at his home in Dallas, Texas. Adam was born March 20, 1964, in Rochester, Minnesota, to James Byars Carter and Ann Rogers Carter. His family later moved to Austin, Texas, and except for briefly residing in California, Adam grew up in Austin and called it home. He was a Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, loved sports and attended Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Adam graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1982. He earned his BS in Engineering from Southern Methodist University in 1987 where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He also attended the University of North Texas where he earned his graduate degree in Business. He enjoyed a successful career in web based technology and was employed by or consulted with companies including InVerge, Network Associates, US Web Systems, CompuCom Systems, McAfee, Microsoft and Federal Express. He was exceptionally skilled in Sharepoint, Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Resource Planning and was highly regarded as a collaborator on special projects that required an in depth understanding of these and other cutting-edge platforms.
He is survived by his son, Darren Carter, his siblings (Greg, Kathleen, John and their families), step-mother Jean Koonz and extended family. Adam was extremely proud of his son Darren's many achievements. Darren is an accomplished violinist and has participated in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and all-state orchestras. He will attend Baylor University in the fall to study violin performance.
A funeral service in memory of Adam Carter will be held at 11 am on July 7, 2018, at Weed Corley Fish North, 3125 North Lamar Blvd, in Austin, Texas. Visitation is 6pm to 7pm Friday, July 6, 2018, at the same location. Following the Saturday service, interment will be at the Carter family plot at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. For those who wish to do so, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org) to remember Adam.
