It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan McKinlay, age 66, on February 4, 2025. Susan, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
She was the beloved wife of James McKinlay, with whom she shared a wonderful life in Thornhill, where they raised their children, Dan (married to Katrina) and Jennifer (married to Tyler). Susan was also a proud and loving grandmother to Cameron and Leah, who brought her immense joy.
Susan was a caring sister to her twin brother, David Macdonald, and will be deeply missed by him along with the rest of her family, including her brother-in-law Doug McKinlay and sister-in-law Jean McKinlay, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Nancy Douglas (née Dawson), with whom she had a very close, loving relationship with throughout her life.
Susan was a woman who found happiness in the simple joys of life, such as cooking family meals, going for walks and appreciating the beauty of nature, spending time on the golf course and playing with her grandchildren. Susan’s family was the center of her world, and she will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her presence in their lives will be profoundly missed, but her love and memories will forever remain in their hearts.
Susan’s legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
