It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Roger Newman, who passed away on Thursday December 15, 2022. After a stroke in 2018, and several years of declining health, he died peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in his 90th year.
Born in Andover, England, Roger was a quiet and studious child. He immigrated to Canada as a young man to start a new chapter of his life in Toronto. He married Rosemary Parker in 1960 and together they raised their family of four children.
Roger’s creativity and attention to detail lent themselves to his lifelong commitment to the restoration and renovation of his century home. Later in life, his creative attention turned to the design of numerous inventions.
Roger is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary Newman, née Parker. He will be remembered with love by his children, Melissa Bradley (Darryl), Jennifer Booth (Jack), Jonathan Newman (Kristine, deceased), and Christopher Newman (Christine), and by his grandchildren, Kevin, Heather, Sandra, Rachel, Julia, Stephen, Jessica and Thomas.
There will be a celebration of life for Roger Newman on January 2, 2023 at 2 pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South in Aurora, Ontario.
If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society York Region would be appreciated.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ThompsonFH-Aurora.com for the Newman family.
